Do They All Really Have To End?

My Kooky friend from Boston and I were talking today about relationships. She recently divorced her husband and our conversation went something like this.

"All relationships END, don't you get that? And the ones that do last are either:

1) Where one partner is dumb as shit and just sucks it all up or...

2) They last and last because of some small miracle."

"Oh, do you really think so?" is all I could choke out.
(At this point, I'm feeling a little discouraged.)

"Yeah, they all have point A and point Z. (And she stretches her arms out to demonstrate.) No one knows how long the stuff in the middle is going to last, but they all go to point Z eventually."

Blah blah blah....some stuff in between and finally, I said, "Well, maybe I'm the biggest fool around but I want to believe in the special exceptions."

"That's okay, she said.

" We like having people like you around. You write our Greeting Cards."
(Totally off the top of her crazy head)

I died laughing right there in her cubical, walked over, hugged her there in her chair and laughed all the way down the stairs and back to my office. That is ONE crazy Beeaaachh and I am so glad she's my friend.
