High School Films

Today, while taking our walk, I remembered a film I saw in high school advanced biology class. I told my mom, "This film was absolutely hilarious because it was obviously shot sometime in the early 1950s. Ma, the narrator said, 'Unfortunately, these people will never be anything more than hopeless idiots.' "

I laughed my head off and my mother squeaked out, "I got those films from downtown for the school. My film was worse. I showed it before a pep rally because class was going to be cut short. We never had time to review them before showing them to you all."

"Well?" I said.

"Mine had nurses in it wearing those 1920s looking uniforms. You know, with the hats with the points all over them."

"That's REALLY funny."

"Oh, that's not the best part. The film had the nurses demonstrating the proper use of rectal thermometers. The class was laughing so hard, I had to turn off the film."

"What did you say?" I wanted to know.

"I just told the class that obviously the film was a bit outdated. I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing and I almost fell down, it was so damn funny."

Ah, high school in the late 70s. Those 8mm films were the highlight of our existence.
